Bonding Primer

Alright, since I don't have a camera I might as well tell a lovely story, eh?

So, I've been trying to Trading Spaces it lately and prime and paint a dresser, nightstand, and book shelf for Maddox's new grown-up room. A few months ago I primed it with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint that Corey picked out (it looked like diarrhea), and another 2 coats of paint that I picket out (a nice deep chocolate). Yes, 6 coats later I noticed as I screwed on the knobs that the paint was easily peeling off. This is when I discovered that I must have done something wrong. 3 1/2 hours later of scraping off old paint and talking to Hirschfield's (not the new guy this time) I discovered that I should have used something called Bonding Primer. I bought the lovely stuff and started again. For anyone who hasn't used this horrific stuff, it smells like you've destroyed your entire brain with one wiff and it's like putting on thick, white glue that is drying as you are stroking. I even got light-headed and then looked at the can, which required me to take a "15 minute break in a well vented area". What was I using? I immediately took all of the furniture out of the garage and onto our driveway to finish up my work. I'm sure I've shortened my life expectancy by several years not to mention destroyed my breastmilk. Maybe the can should read "be sure to pump and dump two feedings following use". Pictures to follow...

Hi Heidi,

I came across your blog and after reading a bit noticed you were a nurse in the L&D department. I am going back to school for RN and would LOVE to get into L&D. If you have a second I wouldn't mind asking you what steps you took, where you interned, did you interview or did you just intern at the same hospital? Did you have to get additional training for L&D? Were you a CNA at the hospital? My email is lindsayjreid@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance!
